Amritsar: A delegation of members from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), led by Master Mithu Singh Kahneke, on Monday reached Akal Takht Sahib and submitted a memorandum to the jathedar.
Demand for strict action
The delegation demanded that Sukhbir Singh Badal be summoned again, alleging that his recent statements should be taken seriously.
They claimed that describing compliance with Akal Takht’s direction as a “conspiracy” goes against Sikh traditions and maryada, and called for strict action to ensure that no one questions the authority of the institution in future.
Citing Sikh traditions
Speaking to the media, members cited examples from Sikh history, stating that even prominent figures have appeared before the Akal Takht, admitted their mistakes, and sought forgiveness.
They said this long-standing tradition reflects the discipline and spiritual authority of the Sikh panth.
