Leeds: India’s vice-captain Rishabh Pant made history on the fourth day of the first Test against England by becoming the first Indian batsman to score a century in both innings of a Test match against the hosts.

Pant followed his first-innings score of 134 with another dominant knock, scoring 118 off 140 balls in the second innings. His innings included 15 fours and three sixes before he was dismissed by England spinner Shoaib Bashir.

Earlier, opener KL Rahul also hit a hundred. India had gained a slender first-innings lead of 6 runs after posting 471, with England replying with 465.

Chasing a target of 371, England were 21/0 at stumps, with Zak Crawley on 12 and Ben Duckett on 9. The visitors will resume their innings on the final day, needing 350 more runs for victory.
