Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court on Thursday extended Asaram’s temporary bail by one month, making it clear that there would be no further extension. Asaram, 86, who is serving a life sentence in a 2013 rape case, is currently out on bail on medical grounds.
A division bench of Justices Ilesh Vora and P M Rawal passed the order, extending the temporary bail, which was earlier extended till July 7, by another month.
Asaram’s counsel had sought an extension of three months citing health reasons, but the court allowed only a month’s extension, stating it would be the final one.
The court had initially granted Asaram bail on March 28, which was extended before it was due to expire on June 30.
