New Delhi: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday announced a series of major measures aimed at reducing fuel consumption and promoting responsible spending amid the ongoing West Asia crisis.
Addressing a press conference alongside Cabinet colleagues, the Delhi Chief Minister said the government has prepared a comprehensive action plan under the campaign “Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdan” to implement Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to conserve fuel and resources.
Government offices to adopt work-from-home twice a week
Gupta announced that all Delhi government offices will follow a work-from-home system for two days every week. She added that the private sector will also be requested to adopt similar measures.
The Chief Minister further said that all ministers, officers and she herself will travel by the Delhi Metro every Monday. Citizens have also been urged to voluntarily observe one “No-Vehicle Day” every week.
Foreign tours cancelled, fuel quotas reduced
The Delhi government has also decided to cancel all official foreign visits of ministers for one year. In addition, no major government events will be organised for the next three months.
Gupta said fuel quotas for Delhi government officials using petrol and diesel vehicles have been reduced by 20 percent.
CM convoy cut by 60 percent
The Chief Minister also revealed that her convoy has been reduced by 60 percent following the Prime Minister’s call for fuel conservation.
According to Gupta, her convoy now consists of only four vehicles, including two electric vehicles (EVs).
