Rohtak: Heavy rain continued across Haryana on Thursday, with the Meteorological Department issuing an alert for moderate to heavy rainfall in several districts, including Gurugram, Nuh, Rewari, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Sirsa, Kaithal, Karnal, Ambala and Panchkula, till 1.30 pm.
On Wednesday night, heavy rain led to the collapse of a petrol pump wall in Softa village of Palwal, burying six labourers who were passing by. Two labourers died, while three were referred to Delhi in critical condition. One labourer is reported to be out of danger. The labourers were returning home after work around 10 pm when the incident occurred.
Gurugram witnessed severe waterlogging, with water levels reaching waist height in several areas. In view of the situation, Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar issued an advisory for private and corporate employees to work from home. A truck overturned after the South Peripheral Road (SPR) in Gurugram caved in due to the rain, while the hospital in Rewari was also flooded.
In a separate incident on Wednesday, three children drowned in a pond in Kaithal while taking a bath during the rain. The children slipped and fell into deep water. All three were from the same family and have been identified as Vansh (8), Akshay (8) and Naman (9).
