Gurugram: A 25-year-old junior international tennis player, Radhika Yadav, was allegedly shot dead by her father in Gurugram’s Sushant Lok Phase-2 on Thursday following a dispute over her tennis academy.
According to the family, Radhika’s father, Deepak Yadav, had given her Rs 1.25 crore to open a tennis academy, but within a month, he began pressuring her to close it. For the past 15 days, daily arguments had been taking place between the father and daughter, family members said.
Police said that Radhika’s academy was doing well financially, and Deepak allegedly used to tell people that he was living off his daughter’s earnings, leading to tension between them. During an argument on Thursday, Deepak allegedly lost his temper and shot his daughter.
Earlier, rumours on social media suggested that Radhika was killed for making a reel, but the police have denied this claim. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
