New Delhi: Air Chief Marshal AP Singh on Saturday said Pakistan suffered heavy losses during Operation Sindoor, with the Indian Air Force shooting down five of its fighter jets.
Speaking at the 16th edition of the Air Chief Marshal LM Katre Memorial Lecture at the HAL Management Academy Auditorium in Bengaluru, he credited India’s air defence systems for the success.
“Our air defence system has done a fantastic job. The S-400 system that we recently purchased has been a game-changer. Pakistan had long-range glide bombs but could not use any of them because they could not penetrate the air defence,” Singh said.
He added that a Pakistani surveillance aircraft, Airborne Early Warning and Control / Electronic Intelligence (AEW&C/ELINT), was also shot down from about 300 km away — a record for surface-to-air targeting so far.
Singh said before-and-after images of the strike, captured by satellites and shown by local media, confirmed the scale of destruction. “There was nothing left,” he said.
