Punjab announces summer vacation in schools from June 1 to 30

Chandigarh: Punjab government has announced summer vacation in all government, aided and private schools across the state from June 1 to June 30 in view of the prevailing heatwave conditions.

The decision was taken considering the sharp rise in temperatures and concerns over students’ health and safety during the summer season.

An official order in this regard has been issued by Education Department Secretary Sonali Giri. Copies of the notification have been forwarded to all concerned departments and officials for implementation.

The month-long break will be applicable to all categories of schools operating in the state.

The announcement comes amid intense heat conditions across northern India. Chandigarh had already ordered the closure of schools due to soaring temperatures and heatwave concerns.

Schools are expected to reopen after the summer vacation period ends on June 30, subject to any further directions issued by the state government.
