New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated two major national highway projects in Delhi — the Dwarka Expressway’s Delhi section and the Urban Extension Road-2 (UER-2) — built at a combined cost of about Rs 11,000 crore.
Officials said the projects are expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in Delhi and adjoining areas, cut travel time, and improve connectivity to the national capital.
The corridor will allow commuters to reach the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in around 40 minutes and make travel from the National Capital Region to Chandigarh more convenient.
In March 2024, PM Modi had inaugurated the 19-km Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway. The newly opened 10.1 km Delhi section has been built at a cost of nearly Rs 5,360 crore.
The stretch will also provide multi-modal connectivity to Yashobhoomi, Delhi Metro’s Blue and Orange Lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and the Dwarka cluster bus depot.
