Shimla: Heavy rains have thrown life out of gear in Himachal Pradesh, with 601 roads, including three national highways, closed and nearly 500 transformers damaged across the state.
According to the State Emergency Operation Centre, 201 roads remain shut in Mandi, 174 in Kullu including NH-03 and NH-305, 57 in Shimla, 46 in Kangra, 29 in Chamba, 21 each in Sirmaur and Una, 18 in Bilaspur, 17 in Solan, 13 in Hamirpur and four in Kinnaur. NH-503A in Una is also closed.
The damage to 500 transformers has disrupted electricity supply in several areas.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Mandi, Kangra, Hamirpur, Una and Bilaspur districts, warning of heavy rainfall in isolated areas. A yellow alert has been sounded for Shimla, Kullu, Solan, Chamba and Sirmaur districts.
