New Delhi: India and Canada have agreed to strengthen security cooperation, including in combating terrorism and transnational crimes, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Friday.
The announcement follows Canada’s decision last Monday to designate the Lawrence Bishnoi gang as a terrorist organisation.
Canada said that the gang was “violently” targeting certain communities and creating an “atmosphere of fear and panic,” adding that such acts have no place in the country.
The move comes a week after National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met his Canadian counterpart Nathalie Droyen in New Delhi to discuss security collaboration.
