CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government plans to generate 4 lakh jobs in the state through the industrial sector, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday.
He made the announcement during a function in Chandigarh where the government also launched the construction of modern sports stadiums in over 3,000 villages to engage youth in sports.
Speaking at the event, Kejriwal said the government is working to provide employment and sports opportunities for young people, including those returning from de-addiction centres. So far, 55,000 youths in Punjab have been given jobs under the initiative.
He also highlighted the state government’s ongoing ‘war on drugs’, claiming it has received strong public support, and alleged that previous governments in Punjab had contributed to the spread of drugs in the state.
