New Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction will once again take place outside India. The mini-auction for the 2026 season is scheduled to be held between December 15 and 18 in one of the cities — Dubai, Muscat, or Doha.
According to a senior BCCI official who spoke to Dainik Bhaskar on the condition of anonymity, the final venue will be confirmed soon.
Last week, several reports had suggested that this year’s auction might be held in India, but the official clarified that it would take place abroad.
In 2024, the IPL mega auction was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, due to the lack of suitable venues and logistical challenges in India.
The upcoming IPL season is expected to begin around March 20, 2026.
