Three arrested in Garhshankar medical store firing case in Hoshiarpur

Hoshiarpur: Police have arrested three persons in connection with the recent firing incident at a medical store in Garhshankar area of Hoshiarpur district, officials said on Friday.

Garhshankar Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Daljit Singh Khakh said a police team was deployed near Kunal on Barapur Road after receiving a tip-off about two suspects arriving on a motorcycle. When the police signalled them to stop near Barapur village, one of the suspects opened fire on the police.

In retaliation, the police fired back and arrested two suspects, identified as Karan Jagpal and Simranpreet Singh. One of the bullets fired by the accused hit a police vehicle, while another struck an assistant sub-inspector’s bulletproof jacket. During the exchange, Jagpal sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was taken to the civil hospital in Garhshankar.

Police recovered a pistol and cartridges from the spot.
