Over 2,500 passengers fined for travelling without tickets in Jammu Division, Rs 32 lakh collected

Jammu: The Jammu Railway Division has fined over 2,500 passengers for travelling without tickets in the past 10 days during the festive season, collecting around Rs 32 lakh in penalties.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said that special ticket checking drives were conducted daily during the festive period to ensure passenger convenience and curb illegal travel.

He said that on October 24 alone, more than Rs 7 lakh was collected from around 1,200 passengers travelling without valid tickets.

“Our efforts to strengthen ticket checking during festivals have yielded positive results. This has not only increased revenue but also improved the travel experience for genuine passengers. Despite a shortage of ticketing staff, the newly formed Jammu Division performed brilliantly,” Singhal said.
