New Delhi: Reliance Group Chairman Anil Ambani on Monday refused to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for the second time in connection with a Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) case.
The businessman said he was prepared to testify before the central agency through a virtual appearance or recorded video. He had made the same request on November 14 during the first summons.
However, the ED rejected Ambani’s offer and issued a fresh summons for Monday. It remains unclear whether the agency will issue a third notice.
A spokesperson for the 66-year-old businessman said in a statement that Anil Ambani has offered to be available for recording his statement on any date and time convenient for the ED through virtual appearance or recorded video.
According to sources, the probe agency had earlier directed Ambani to appear in person on Friday to record his statement under FEMA. The investigation is linked to the Jaipur-Rings highway project.
