Chandigarh: Around 10 students of the Meritorious School in Gurdaspur were hospitalised after their health deteriorated following dinner at the school hostel on Sunday night. The students were admitted to the civil hospital in Gurdaspur, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
According to information, eight to ten hostel residents fell ill around 8.30 pm, complaining of severe stomach pain and vomiting. The school staff immediately rushed them to the nearby civil hospital.
Hospital doctors said medical tests of all the affected students are being conducted and the exact cause of the illness will be clear only after the reports are received. They added that the condition of all the students is stable and they are under observation.
Meanwhile, parents have raised serious questions over the quality of food being served at the school. They accused the school administration of negligence and claimed that substandard food is being provided to students. Parents also said they had raised similar complaints in the past, but no effective action was taken.
