Mumbai: A day after popular comedian-actor Rajpal Yadav surrendered at Tihar Jail in a cheque bounce case, his wife Radha Yadav expressed gratitude to members of the Hindi film industry for standing by the family during the crisis.
Rajpal Yadav was taken into custody after the Delhi high court dismissed his appeal in a case related to non-payment of dues amounting to nearly ₹9 crore.
According to his manager Goldy Jain, several prominent actors and filmmakers have extended support to the family. He claimed that Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Varun Dhawan and filmmaker David Dhawan have offered assistance.
Actor Sonu Sood was among the first to step forward, Jain said, adding that Sood signed Rajpal Yadav for a film project and provided an advance payment to help him maintain dignity during the legal battle.
The family has not issued a detailed statement on the legal proceedings but reiterated that they are hopeful of resolving the matter through due process.
