Gurdaspur: Punjab Police have made a major breakthrough in the brutal killing of two police personnel deployed near the India-Pakistan border, arresting one accused while another was injured in a police encounter.
According to Gurdaspur SSP Aditya, the arrested accused has been identified as Dilawar Singh, a resident of Alinangal village. The second accused, Ranjit Singh, sustained bullet injuries during an exchange of fire with police near the Purana Shala area.
Police teams tracking the suspects reportedly intercepted them, following which the accused allegedly opened fire. In retaliatory action, one of the suspects was injured and later taken into custody for treatment.
The arrested accused is being interrogated to ascertain the motive behind the killings and to determine whether more individuals were involved in the conspiracy.
