Congress MLA Khaira’s Family Grabbed Panchayat Land in Ramgarh, Blocking Village’s Development: Harsimran Ghuman

Ghuman Dares Congress to Face the Truth Live; Invites Congress Leaders Including Partap Bajwa for Demarcation in Ramgarh

Punjab E News: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Bholath Halka Incharge Adv. Harsimran Singh Ghuman on Thursday launched a scathing attack on Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, accusing his family of illegal encroachment of panchayat land in village Ramgarh and deliberately obstructing development works in the area.

Addressing a press conference, Ghuman said that whenever any wrongdoing comes to his notice, he considers it his duty to bring the truth before the people of Bholath and the entire Punjab through the media. Referring to the recent controversy in Ramgarh, he stated that action had already been initiated against illegal encroachment on panchayat land, but what is more serious is that such acts are becoming a major hurdle in the development of the constituency.

Ghuman presented documentary evidence, including an official list signed by the Panchayati Raj department, stating that out of 28 sanctioned village playgrounds under the Punjab government’s rural development plan, Ramgarh was also allocated one. However, the construction could not proceed due to obstruction in identifying (demarcating) panchayat land before the March 31 deadline.

He alleged that Khaira, in a bid to protect his family’s illegal occupation, mobilized certain individuals under the guise of farmer unions to create chaos and stop the demarcation process. “They tried to mislead people by claiming the government was acting against farmers, while in reality they were shielding their own illegal land grabbing,” Ghuman said.

Citing RTI documents and warrants of possession about 46 acres of Panchayat Land in Ramgarh village, Ghuman claimed that members of Khaira’s family have long been under scrutiny for encroaching upon panchayat land. He named individuals from Khaira’s extended family, Tarinderjit Singh aka Tajinder Singh s/o Gurdial Singh and Hari Singh s/o Harbhajan Singh, and said that the records clearly establish their links to the encroachment.

Highlighting further discrepancies, Ghuman pointed out that official records show a village pond (chhapar) spread over approximately 24 kanals, whereas current measurements indicate only about 9 kanals remain. “Where did the remaining 15 kanals disappear? This is a question Khaira must answer,” he said, alleging that the missing land has been encroached upon.

Taking the issue head-on, Ghuman issued an open challenge to Khaira and Congress leaders for a transparent, live demarcation of the land. “I will personally go to Partap Singh Bajwa’s residence with all documents and invite him, along with the media, to fix a date for demarcation. Let it be done live so that the truth is clear to everyone,” he said.

He further assured that the demarcation would be conducted using GPS technology without harming any standing crops. “If even a single farmer suffers any loss, I will compensate four times the damage from my own pocket,” Ghuman declared.

Launching a sharp political attack, Ghuman said, “A person who could not be loyal to his own village cannot be trusted by the people. Instead of serving the village, Khaira’s family has looted its resources.”

Reiterating AAP’s commitment to transparency and rural development, Ghuman said the party is determined to free panchayat lands from illegal encroachment and ensure that public resources are used for the benefit of villagers.

He urged the media and public to be part of the demarcation process whenever the date is finalized, asserting that “this is not just about one village, but about protecting the rights of people across Punjab.”
