Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday accused the BJP-led Centre of misusing central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to target opposition leaders and “undermine democracy.”
Reacting to fresh ED raids on AAP leaders, Mann said the party strongly condemns the action against leaders such as Sanjeev Arora and Ashok Mittal, adding that neither he nor his colleagues would be intimidated by such actions.
Launching a sharp attack, Mann said, “The country is being run by just two people. Remember the slogan ‘Hum do, hamare do’? Here, ‘hum do’ are Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, and ‘hamare do’ are Ambani and Adani. They don’t care about anyone else.”
He further alleged that the raids appear to be part of a political strategy ahead of elections in Punjab. Addressing a press conference, Mann claimed that the BJP lacks strong electoral presence in the state.
“They are struggling to find candidates for all 117 seats. After their experiment of inducting Congress leaders into BJP failed, they have now started using ED and CBI to increase their numbers,” he said.
Mann asserted that such pressure tactics would not succeed, adding, “Do whatever you want to scare us—we will neither bow nor break.”
