Chandigarh: The Punjab government has sent the ‘Jagat Jyot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Bill, 2026’ to Governor Gulab Chand Kataria for approval after it was unanimously passed by Punjab Vidhan Sabha on April 13.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann confirmed that the bill has now been forwarded for assent. The development comes a day after the Governor had stated that the bill had not yet reached him.
All eyes are now on the Governor’s decision—whether he grants assent to the bill or refers it to the President for further consideration.
