Arvind Kejriwal attacks BJP over viral Lord Hanuman video, demands apology

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has strongly criticised the BJP over a viral video allegedly showing a man dressed as Lord Hanuman dancing in front of the convoy of BJP national president Nitin Nabin in Lucknow.

Reacting to the video, Kejriwal accused BJP leaders of insulting the Hindu faith. He alleged that BJP members had caused greater harm to Hinduism than any external invaders in the country’s long history and demanded that Nitin Nabin apologise to the Hindu community.

Addressing the BJP leader, Kejriwal said, “What are you doing? Aren’t you ashamed? You should apologise to the entire Hindu community.”

Sharing the video on social media, Kejriwal said it reflected two contrasting ideologies. He said AAP considers Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman as deities worthy of faith and worship, while accusing the BJP of treating them merely as political tools to gain power.

He further alleged that the BJP had no hesitation in disrespecting religious sentiments for political purposes.

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh also targeted the BJP over the incident. He questioned why a person dressed as Lord Hanuman was allegedly made to dance while carrying a BJP flag during the procession.

Sanjay Singh claimed that if such actions continued, the BJP would replace “Hindutva” with “BJP-vaad” and accused the party of using religion for political gains.

The BJP had not issued an official response to the allegations at the time of writing.
