Diljit Dosanjh reacts after ‘Satluj’ removed from ZEE5, says ‘the film can’t disappear now’

Mumbai: The much-discussed film ‘Punjab ’95’, based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra and recently released on ZEE5 under the new title ‘Satluj’, has been removed from the OTT platform just two days after its release.

Reacting to the development, lead actor Diljit Dosanjh said he was no longer worried about the film’s availability, claiming it had already reached audiences.

Responding to a fan during a live session on social media, Diljit said, “I’m not worried anymore. On the first day, I was concerned, but now anyone can release it again whenever they want because people have already watched it and downloaded it. Once a film is out, it can’t disappear.”

He further added, “Now there’s nothing to worry about. Everyone has downloaded it. Once a film is released, it cannot be erased.”

The film, directed by Honey Trehan, had remained unreleased for more than three years amid issues related to certification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). It was finally released on Friday without cuts, generating significant interest among viewers.

However, by Sunday evening, the film had been removed from ZEE5 for viewers in India.

In a statement, ZEE5 said, “Considering the current circumstances, ‘Satluj’ will remain unavailable in India until further notice. We are committed to pursuing all appropriate legal avenues to bring the film back to our viewers at the earliest.”

While the streaming platform has said it is working through the legal process to restore the film, Diljit’s remarks suggest he believes the film has already reached a wide audience despite its removal from the platform.
