Reviews highway projects during meeting, directs officials to expedite work

Jalandhar News (April 20): With the aim of ensuring the timely completion of major highway projects underway in the district, Deputy Commissioner Varjeet Walia today reviewed issues related to these projects and resolved them on the spot, directing the concerned officials to take immediate necessary action.

During a meeting held here at the District Administrative Complex with officials of the Competent Authority for Land Acquisition and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the Deputy Commissioner conducted a detailed review of issues pertaining to the Phagwara-Hoshiarpur Highway and the Delhi-Katra Expressway.
Mr. Walia emphasized that these infrastructure projects are of great importance for the development of the district and no effort should be spared to ensure their timely completion.
The Deputy Commissioner sought information regarding pending matters related to compensation distribution, possession processes, and land awards associated with these key projects. Resolving issues on the spot, he instructed the concerned officials to implement necessary actions without delay.
While reviewing the progress of ongoing highway projects, the Deputy Commissioner directed officials to accelerate the pace of work. Terming these projects crucial for the district’s development, Mr. Walia said that improved regional connectivity through these highways would open new avenues for growth. He also stressed the need for better coordination among officials to ensure the timely completion of these projects of national importance.
SDM Shayri Malhotra, District Revenue Officer Navdeep Singh Bhogal, NHAI Project Director Priyanka Meena, along with other officials, were present in the meeting.
