New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday intensified its attack on Arvind Kejriwal over a newly allotted bungalow in Lodhi Estate, dubbing it “Sheesh Mahal 2”.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters, Delhi minister Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma alleged that Kejriwal has grown accustomed to a “luxurious lifestyle”.
He claimed that after leaving his earlier residence, Kejriwal moved to Punjab and has now set up another lavish bungalow in Lodhi Estate.
Allegations over spending
Verma questioned the expenditure on the Type VII bungalow allotted to Kejriwal as a national party chief, alleging that the Central Public Works Department does not typically spend such large amounts on official residences.
He further alleged that “private funds” were used to install high-end facilities at the property and demanded clarification from Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party regarding the total cost and source of funds.
The controversy adds to the ongoing political tussle between BJP and AAP ahead of key elections.
