Punjab Kings pull off record chase, stun Delhi Capitals despite KL Rahul’s 152

New Delhi: Punjab Kings scripted history with a stunning run chase, defeating Delhi Capitals by six wickets in a high-scoring IPL clash at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Chasing a massive 265-run target, Punjab Kings reached 265/4 in just 18.5 overs — marking the highest successful run chase in IPL history.

Explosive start sets the tone

Openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya gave Punjab a flying start, adding 126 runs in just 6.5 overs. Prabhsimran smashed 76 off 26 balls, while Arya chipped in with a quickfire 43 off 17.

The duo powered Punjab to a record powerplay score of 105/0, putting the chase firmly on track.

Iyer finishes in style

After a brief middle-order wobble, captain Shreyas Iyer anchored the innings with an unbeaten 71 off 36 balls, sealing the win with seven balls to spare.

Rahul’s record knock goes in vain

Earlier, KL Rahul delivered a sensational unbeaten 152, the highest score by an Indian in IPL history, guiding Delhi Capitals to a formidable 264/2. Nitish Rana also impressed with 91 runs.

Despite the mammoth total, Delhi’s bowlers failed to contain Punjab’s aggressive batting lineup.

Punjab on a roll

With this win, Punjab Kings now have six victories in seven matches, continuing their dominant run in the tournament.
