Three undertrial inmates attack Bathinda jail superintendent with sharp weapons

Chandigarh: Three undertrial inmates allegedly attacked the superintendent of Bathinda Central Jail with sharp-edged weapons on Friday, leaving his gunman seriously injured during the incident.

According to police, jail superintendent Dalvir Singh was present inside the prison premises when the three inmates suddenly launched the attack.

The accused were reportedly carrying sharp and pointed objects, which they used to target the senior jail official.

Gunman injured during rescue attempt

Seeing the superintendent under attack, his government gunman rushed in to protect him. However, the attackers also assaulted the gunman with sharp weapons, causing serious injuries.

Jail staff immediately intervened and managed to overpower the three inmates before the situation escalated further.

Police later arrested all three accused and produced them before a court, which sent them to five days of police remand for further investigation.
