Pune: A shocking murder case has emerged from Maharashtra’s Pune district, where the son of a prominent real estate developer was allegedly killed by his fiancée and her boyfriend just months before their planned wedding.
According to police, Ketan Agrawal, son of leading real estate and construction businessman Vishal Agrawal, was allegedly pushed into a 350-foot-deep gorge near Lohagad Fort during what appeared to be a birthday outing with his fiancée.
Investigators suspect the incident was not an accident but a premeditated murder. Preliminary findings indicate that the woman was involved in a relationship with another man and allegedly conspired with him to eliminate Ketan before their marriage.
Ketan had recently returned to India after completing his postgraduate studies abroad and had joined his family’s business as a director. He belonged to one of the well-known builder families in the Pimpri-Chinchwad region of Pune.
The couple was scheduled to marry in November in Jaipur, where preparations for a grand wedding were already underway. Reports suggest that around ₹17 crore had been budgeted for the celebrations, with two chartered aircraft arranged to transport guests.
Police are examining the sequence of events leading up to Ketan’s death and are collecting evidence related to the alleged conspiracy. Officials said further details would be revealed as the investigation progresses.
The case has drawn comparisons on social media to other high-profile murder cases in which romantic relationships allegedly played a role in planning the victim’s death. However, authorities have urged the public not to speculate until the investigation is completed.
