Chandigarh: The Punjab Cabinet has approved changes in the reservation roster for six districts following boundary revisions. The districts include Mohali, Patiala, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Malerkotla and Sangrur.
Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announced the decisions after the Cabinet meeting, stating that the move aligns with provisions under the Punjab Panchayati Raj Act, 1994, which allow changes in reservation when district, tehsil or block boundaries are altered.
The Cabinet also gave approval for desilting work on agricultural land along the Sutlej and Ghaggar rivers in flood-affected areas, offering relief to farmers impacted by past flooding.
Responding to a question on a possible vigilance probe against former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Cheema said that “whoever is guilty will be punished.”
On a query regarding Raghav Chadha, Cheema remarked that “people do not like those who turn their back and run away,” indicating ongoing political tensions within the party.
