Punjab withdraws Z+ security of Raghav Chadha amid AAP rift

Chandigarh: The Punjab government has withdrawn Z+ category security of Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, days after his removal as deputy leader in the Upper House and his differences with the Aam Aadmi Party leadership.

The party has appointed Ashok Mittal as the new deputy leader in his place.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said Chadha was going against party directions and not raising key Punjab issues in Parliament.

The decision has triggered strong reactions from opposition parties. Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia accused the government of politicising the police and misusing it for political purposes.

Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa alleged that the BJP and AAP are working together to settle political scores by misusing government agencies.
