Woman allegedly gang-raped inside private bus in Delhi’s Nangloi; two arrested

New Delhi: A shocking case of alleged gang rape inside a private bus has surfaced from Delhi’s Nangloi area, with police confirming that two accused have been arrested in connection with the crime.

According to Delhi Police, a case was registered at Rani Bagh Police Station under Sections 64(1), 70(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police said the private bus allegedly used in the crime has also been seized. Officials confirmed that both accused persons have been taken into custody and further investigation is underway.

Opposition attacks BJP-led Centre over women’s safety

The incident triggered sharp political reactions, with leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party and Indian National Congress targeting the BJP-led Central government and Delhi Police over women’s safety in the national capital.

AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj questioned why Delhi Police allegedly informed the media about the incident only after a delay of two days. He asked whether there had been an attempt to suppress or manage the case before it became public.

Bharadwaj said, “What kind of law and order situation is this where a bus kept moving for two hours in central Delhi while a woman was allegedly gang-raped and later thrown onto the road?”

Calling the incident “another Nirbhaya-like case”, AAP leader Manish Sisodia alleged that women were no longer safe in schools, buses or public spaces under the BJP-led administration.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Abhishek Dutt said Delhi records the highest number of crimes against women among metro cities and demanded major reforms in policing.

He urged authorities to reduce excessive VVIP deployment and strengthen policing at the ground level to improve public safety.
