Jalandhar-based NRI youth cheats on Punjabi girl in live-in relationship

Jalandhar: Mandeep Kaur, a Nakodar district resident currently residing in Paris, France, has been deceived by a Jalandhar based youth living in Paris.
Mandeep entered a relationship with Captain Singh 10 years ago, leading to love and a marriage at a Gurdwara Sahib.  They both have an eight-year-old son named Gary Singh Hundal. Captain Singh, refusing to acknowledge his son, is now issuing death threats to Mandeep, she alleged in her complaint.
She filed a complaint online with the NRI wing of the Punjab Police, and they assured her of prompt action.
In December 2014, Mandeep befriended Captain Singh, a Paris resident originally from Akbarpur Kalan, Jalandhar. They began a live-in relationship, and in 2019, they married according to Sikh customs at Gurdwara Sachkhand Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib in Paris. However, conflicts arose, and Captain Singh, who had claimed divorce from his family in Punjab, started threatening Mandeep and her family in India, the complainant said.
Mandeep, seeking protection, has appealed to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and filed a complaint with the NRI wing of the Punjab Police against Captain Singh. She insists on strict action to safeguard her family and son.
When contacted Captain Singh, he said claims that they were in a live-in relationship and the French government’s non-recognition, stating their marriage at Gurdwara Sahib was unregistered.
