Fatehabad: Tensions flared during a Congress Srijan Abhiyan event in Haryana’s Fatehabad on Tuesday, as a scuffle broke out between party workers from rival factions.

The clash reportedly erupted between supporters of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and those aligned with Congress leader Kumari Selja.

Eyewitnesses said the situation escalated when senior party worker Harpal Singh Budania alleged that Congress MLA Paramvir Singh had won his seat with the support of BJP leader Subhash Barala.

The remarks angered supporters of the MLA, who reportedly dragged Budania off the stage and pushed him during the heated exchange.

The chaos forced party observers, who had come to assess the event, to leave without addressing the gathering.

Later, Harpal Singh Budania lodged a police complaint, alleging assault by Paramvir Singh’s supporters.

The incident has exposed internal rifts within the Congress party in the region, just months ahead of the state elections.
