Chandigarh: After the Punjab assembly session, Finance Minister Harpal Cheema said that the murder of a businessman in Abohar was carried out by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently lodged in a Gujarat jail.
“It is very sad that he is targeting Punjab while sitting in Gujarat. Why is he being kept there?” Cheema asked.
He said the Punjab government is committed to ensuring peace in the state but alleged that leaders from BJP, Congress, and Akali Dal have been working in favour of the drug mafia and even openly supporting gangsters. “They were sucking on the banks of the previous governments,” Cheema said.
Targeting the BJP, he questioned why the party does not approach Home Minister Amit Shah to shift Bishnoi to a Punjab jail instead of making a public hue and cry over law and order in the state.
