DC along with department officials orders immediate repair of multiple road, conducts inspection in the city
Jalandhar News (September 5): Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal on Friday informed that under the directions of Punjab Government, Jalandhar administration has started assessing the damage done to houses due to incessant rains and flooded water near the banks of Satluj and Bein, and has already disbursed Rs. 30 lakh as per norms, towards flood relief measures to provide timely assistance to affected families. The assessment of damage and compensation will continue in next few days. He said the aid was being released under the supervision of people’s representatives and senior officials to ensure transparency and was aimed at helping those whose houses had suffered damage during the recent floods. Dr. Aggarwal reiterated the Punjab Government’s firm commitment to safeguarding the interests of citizens and ensuring no affected person was left unattended during this crisis.
The Deputy Commissioner conducted an intensive inspection of several parts of the city to assess the damage caused by incessant rains. Directing urgent action, he asked the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation officials to immediately begin repair work on Nakodar Road, particularly around Shri Guru Ravidass Chowk, and ensure proper de-watering along this busy stretch. He further instructed officials to repair potholes in other rain-affected areas without delay to ease public movement.
Earlier, Dr. Aggarwal visited the District Red Cross Society and reviewed relief operations. Thanking philanthropists for their generous contributions, he said such humanitarian efforts provided much-needed relief and would always be remembered as acts of compassion during trying times.
