India beat Sri Lanka in Super Over to continue unbeaten run in Asia Cup

Dubai: India maintained their unbeaten run in the Asia Cup 2025 after defeating Sri Lanka in a thrilling Super Over at the Dubai International Stadium on Friday night.

Batting first, India posted 202 for 5 in 20 overs, with opener Abhishek Sharma smashing 61 off 31 balls. Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 49, while Sanju Samson contributed 39 and Axar Patel finished with 21 not out. Sri Lanka’s bowlers shared the wickets, with Maheesh Theekshana, Dushmantha Chameera, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dasun Shanaka and Charith Asalanka taking one each.

In reply, Sri Lanka matched India’s total, also finishing on 202 for 5. Pathum Nissanka played a brilliant knock of 107 from 58 balls, adding 127 runs for the second wicket with Kusal Perera, who scored 58. Their partnership took the match into a Super Over.

India were set a target of 3 runs in the Super Over, which they achieved on the very first delivery to seal the win.
