CHANDIGARH: The family of IPS officer Y Puran Kumar has agreed to conduct his post-mortem after eight days of his death. The post-mortem is being carried out at the PGI Advanced Anatomy Centre, where his IAS wife Amneet P. Kumar and two daughters have reached for identification. The cremation will take place at 4 p.m.
As a precautionary measure, police security has been tightened at the PGI, particularly around the anatomy centre.
Haryana-cadre IPS officer Y Puran Kumar was found dead at his Chandigarh residence on October 7. In his suicide note, the officer had levelled serious allegations against Haryana DGP Shatrujit Kapoor and Rohtak SP Narendra Bijrania.
The family had been demanding registration of a case against both officers and their removal from their posts. Following the demand, the state government has sent DGP Shatrujit Kapoor on leave and assigned the additional charge of DGP to IPS officer O.P. Singh.
