Rajinder Gupta set to enter Rajya Sabha unopposed from Punjab

Chandigarh: The path to the Rajya Sabha for Rajinder Gupta from Punjab has been cleared as no political party has fielded a candidate against him. Apart from three independent candidates, his wife had also filed nomination papers.

However, the Election Observer has rejected the nomination papers of all three independents. With this, Gupta remains the only candidate in the fray. If his wife withdraws her nomination, voting will not be required.

Independent candidates Prabhakar Dada from Sangli, Kranti Sayana from Hyderabad, and Janata Party national president Navneet Chaturvedi had filed their papers against him.

Chaturvedi had claimed that AAP MLAs would support his candidature. However, deficiencies were found in all their nomination papers, leading to their rejection.
