MOHALI: Former DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, who was arrested in a bribery case, will be interrogated in jail by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau after the Mohali court granted two-day permission on Friday. The Vigilance had sought permission from the court to question Bhullar in connection with a disproportionate assets case registered against him.
On the same day, Bhullar appeared before the Chandigarh CBI court through video conferencing, where he was sent to judicial custody for 14 days. He will be produced before the court again on November 14. Meanwhile, middleman Krishna has already been taken on remand by the CBI.
Bhullar’s lawyer, HS Dhanoa, said that the former officer’s properties were acquired before he joined service. “All of Bhullar’s property is ancestral. The CBI did not seek his remand and the court approved the application for judicial custody,” Dhanoa said.
He further added that they have requested the court to control misleading information being circulated on social media. “When the time comes, we will present all facts before the court,” he said.
