Seven killed, 15 injured as container trucks catch fire on Mumbai-Bengaluru highway

Pune: At least seven people were killed and 15 others injured when two large container trucks caught fire on a bridge along the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway on the outskirts of Pune city, police said.

A police official said, “As per preliminary information, seven people have died and the injured have been taken to the hospital.”

According to officials, the accident involved eight vehicles. Videos circulating on social media showed a car trapped between two heavy vehicles that were engulfed in flames. The fire brigade was called to the spot and managed to extinguish the blaze after several hours of effort.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
