Ayodhya: Two youths and a young woman detained from the Ram temple complex in Ayodhya have claimed to be residents of Kashmir. However, officials have not yet confirmed their identities or places of residence.
According to eyewitnesses, the three were behaving suspiciously. One of the youths is being questioned about why he had come to Ayodhya. The youth and the woman entered the complex through Gate D1, after which one of the youths sat near Sita Rasoi and attempted to offer namaz. Police personnel took him into custody as soon as they noticed the act.
The youths were wearing Kashmiri attire. One of the detained youths has been identified as Abu Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Shopian in Kashmir, while the woman’s name is Sofia. The identity of the third youth is yet to be ascertained.
Sources said only security checks are conducted at the time of entry into the Ram temple complex and Aadhaar cards or other identity documents are not verified. Taking advantage of this, the trio managed to enter the premises and reached Sita Rasoi, located around 200 metres from the main temple, where they allegedly attempted to offer namaz.
People present at the spot said the youths raised slogans when security personnel stopped them. Following the incident, intelligence agencies, local police and senior administrative officials swung into action.
So far, the district administration has not issued any official statement on the matter. The Ram Temple Trust has also maintained silence over the incident.
