Jalandhar: Panic gripped the Rama Mandi area of Jalandhar on Tuesday after gunshots were heard in public near Kaki Pind. Two assailants riding an Activa scooter allegedly opened fire at a Fortuner SUV belonging to a property dealer.
According to preliminary information, the attackers had been following the property dealer from Shyama Nangal. As the vehicle reached Kaki Pind, the assailants began firing at the SUV. Instead of panicking, the property dealer showed presence of mind and rammed his Fortuner into the attackers’ Activa.
Following the collision, the attackers fell on the road and fled the spot on foot, abandoning their scooter. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Police reached the scene soon after receiving information and launched an investigation. Officials said the attack appears to be linked to an old rivalry. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to identify and trace the attackers.
Further investigation is underway.
