Chandigarh: Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of former Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu, has issued a scathing statement against Punjab Congress chief Raja Warring, accusing him of corruption, incompetence and deliberately weakening the party for personal gains.
In a strongly worded attack, Navjot Kaur Sidhu alleged that Warring had “saved himself from jail” by entering into an understanding with the state’s chief minister and the Aam Aadmi Party, claiming that the Congress was being “destroyed from within” as a result. She accused him of selling the party for petty political benefits and prioritising personal survival over organisational strength.
She further alleged that while a suspension letter was prepared against her, no action was taken against nearly a dozen senior Congress leaders whom she accused of working with Bikram Singh Majithia to politically harm Navjot Singh Sidhu. Instead, she claimed, those leaders were rewarded with key organisational posts for opposing Sidhu.
Claiming she possessed sufficient evidence to substantiate her allegations, Navjot Kaur Sidhu said she had chosen not to make it public, adding that she had already quit the Congress as she no longer saw any credible or promising leadership within the party. She also alleged that party leaders were deliberately planted in her constituency to ensure her electoral defeat.
Questioning what she described as selective and biased disciplinary action, she asked why no steps had been taken against senior leaders such as Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Charanjit Singh Channi, Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and Dr Gandhi, alleging that they had openly challenged the party leadership.
She accused Raja Warring of becoming a “laughing stock” on social media and of disrespecting Congress leaders who continue to support Navjot Singh Sidhu. According to her, the Punjab Congress chief was more focused on internal infighting than on reviving the party’s electoral prospects.
Holding Warring responsible for what she termed “irreparable damage” to the Congress in Punjab, Navjot Kaur Sidhu said he had failed to remain sincere to the party she described as his “mother party”.
