Chandigarh: Two suspects in the Chandigarh shooting case were arrested after an encounter with the Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) in Kaithal on Thursday.
The accused have been identified as Piyush Pehlwan, a resident of Ferozepur, and Pritam Shah from Nawanshahr.
Police said the suspects were injured after opening fire on the police team during the operation. Weapons used in the crime and a motorcycle were recovered from their possession.
Sources revealed that Piyush Pehlwan, also known as Rajan, had recently entered India illegally from Malaysia via Nepal. Both accused are said to have prior criminal records.
The arrests come amid pressure from the family of victim Chamanpreet Singh (31), who had refused to perform his last rites until the accused were apprehended.
Further investigation is underway.
