Punjab lady ASI suspended after tying 5-year-old granddaughter outside gate in Faridkot

Chandigarh: A shocking incident has emerged from Faridkot, where a woman ASI of Punjab Police allegedly tied her 5-year-old granddaughter to a gate and left her in the sun for hours as punishment.

The accused, ASI Sarabjit Kaur, reportedly took the extreme step after the child did not obey her. A video of the incident went viral on social media, showing the child crying in distress with her hands and legs tied.

Following the outrage, SSP Dr Prajna Jain ordered immediate suspension of the officer. Sarabjit Kaur was posted as a “Mahila Mitra” at Sadar police station.

The case has been referred to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), which has recommended registration of an FIR against the accused.

In her statement after the action, the ASI admitted her mistake, claiming she had been under stress for several days.

According to eyewitnesses, neighbours rushed to the spot after hearing the child’s cries and untied her. The girl, in tears, said her grandmother had beaten and tied her, adding that she just wanted to go to her mother.
