Chandigarh: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday carried out raids at multiple locations linked to AAP minister Sanjeev Arora in Punjab over an alleged land deal irregularity.
ED teams reached Arora’s residence in Gurdev Nagar, Ludhiana, around 7 am and deployed central security forces outside, restricting movement in and out of the premises. The minister was not present at home when the raid began.
Simultaneous searches were also conducted at properties linked to real estate businessmen Hemant Sood and Chandrashekhar Agrawal in Ludhiana and Jalandhar. Sood, director of Hampton Homes and considered close to Arora, is also under the scanner, with raids ongoing at his Sarabha Nagar residence.
According to sources, the ED is investigating around 13 locations across Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Gurugram and Chandigarh connected to the minister and his associates.
Preliminary inputs suggest the action is linked to alleged irregularities in a land deal, where industrial land was reportedly converted into residential use through Change of Land Use (CLU) approvals in violation of norms.
Reacting to the development, Union minister Ravneet Singh Bittu took to social media, posting Arora’s photo with the caption, “Sab phade jaan ge” (everyone will be caught).
