Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Administration has suspended the aggregator licence of Ola operator ANI Technologies Private Limited for six months with immediate effect, marking one of the first major enforcement actions under the Chandigarh Motor Vehicle Aggregator Rules, 2025.
The decision has been taken by the State Transport Authority (STA), Chandigarh, under Rule 17 of the newly implemented regulations. During the suspension period, Ola will not be permitted to legally operate cab or bike-taxi services within Chandigarh’s jurisdiction.
The move is being viewed as a strong signal to all app-based transport platforms operating in the Tricity region that compliance with the new regulatory framework is mandatory.
The suspension is expected to impact thousands of drivers associated with the platform as well as a large number of daily commuters in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula, where app-based taxi services have become a key mode of transportation.
According to the administration’s order, drivers registered with the platform have been directed not to accept ride bookings through the Ola application during the suspension period.
Officials said the action was taken as part of efforts to ensure strict enforcement of the Chandigarh Motor Vehicle Aggregator Rules, 2025, which govern the operations of app-based mobility service providers.
The development is likely to have significant implications for the ride-hailing sector in the region, with authorities expected to closely monitor compliance by other aggregator platforms as well.
