Wimbledon: Czech Republic’s Linda Nosková claimed her maiden Grand Slam title after defeating compatriot Karolína Muchová in a thrilling three-set Wimbledon women’s singles final.
The 21-year-old secured the championship with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 victory, recovering impressively after letting five championship points slip away in the second set.
With the triumph, Nosková became the third Czech woman in the past four years to win the Wimbledon singles title, following Markéta Vondroušová in 2023 and Barbora Krejčíková in 2024.
Nosková dominated the opening set from the outset, taking it comfortably 6-2. She looked on course for a straight-sets victory in the second set but failed to convert five championship points as Muchová staged a spirited comeback to force a decider.
The momentum briefly shifted in Muchová’s favour, but Nosková kept her composure in the final set, producing another assured display to seal the biggest title of her career.
The victory marks Nosková’s first Grand Slam singles crown and continues the Czech Republic’s remarkable success in women’s tennis at Wimbledon.
