Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh, son among five summoned by Patiala court over AAP leader’s complaint

Chandigarh: A Patiala court has issued summons to Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, his son, and three others, directing them to appear on July 20 in connection with a complaint filed by an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) district leader.

The summons were issued by Chief Judicial Magistrate Ekta Sahota following a complaint alleging that the complainant was mistreated during a visit to the AAP office. The court has called all the accused to present their side of the case.

Besides the Health Minister, those summoned include his son Rahul Saini, office in-charge Jasbir Gandhi, councillor and close aide Gurkirpal Singh Kasiana, and shopkeeper Gurpreet Singh. The Aam Aadmi Party has also been made a respondent in the complaint. The summons were issued under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The complaint, filed through advocate Navdeep Kaur Verma, invokes multiple provisions of the BNS, including Sections 114, 115(2), 56, 61, 74, 75, 76, 78, 79, 351, 356 and 3(5).

Reacting to the allegations, Gurkirpal Singh Kasiana dismissed the complaint as baseless, stating that everyone visiting the party office, especially women, is treated with respect. He alleged that the complaint was part of a conspiracy to defame those named in the case.
